Drop the Rope: Surrender vs. Defeat in Homeschooling

by Kami Harris
Oct 01, 2025

Do you ever feel like you’re carrying everything—your children’s learning, their choices, their futures—on your shoulders?

Here’s the truth: letting go can look like two very different things. One is defeat—the collapse that comes from fear, control, and exhaustion.

The other is surrender—the chosen release that comes from trust, humility, and Christ’s invitation: “My yoke is easy, and my burden is light” (Matthew 11:30, KJV).

This week, I unpack the key differences between defeat and surrender—their source, feeling, posture, identity, and results—and why this distinction matters so deeply for us as homeschool moms.

If you’ve been feeling burnt out from carrying too much, this perspective could be the clarity and hope you’ve been praying for.
